Joan Sorita
Joan is a highly educated and skilled professional in the therapeutic use and chemistry of essential oils and aromatherapy, as well as a variety of related bodywork and rehabilitation services for horses, dogs and people. It was a rehabilitation massage case with a rescue horse that ignited a spark to go and learn more about aromatherapy. Since then, she has studied essential oils extensively with leading experts from around the world, including Elizabeth Van Buren, Catherine Bird, Ingrid Martin and Caroline Ingraham.
Joan is also a life-long horsewoman, and since 1982 has focused on learning and developing techniques to rehabilitate horses. This passion has led to opportunities such as managing a ranch for Olivia Newton-John (involving many rehab cases) and also running her own rehabilitation facility in California.
Currently, Joan works in the Paint and Quarter Horse world, traveling to national shows with her clients to keep the horses at their optimum performance level. She teaches both independently and with the Northwest School of Animal Massage, which she co-founded with Lola Michelin.
